The CRMD team will be responsible for the design and development of peptide-based nanocarriers for the controlled and targeted delivery on anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial therapeutics upon injection of the hydrogel. The Research Fellow will have the opportunity to attend the project technical meetings across Europe as well as to disseminate the project results at national and international conferences.The CRMD provides multi-disciplinary expertise ranging from mathematical modelling to chemistry, molecular and cell biology, material sciences and engineering, and medical devices. The Research Fellow will be working in collaboration with the INJECTHEAL Principal Investigator, Prof Matteo Santin (Director of the CRMD) and the project Co-Investigators: Dr Ian Cooper, Dr Shirin Saberianpour and Dr Nadia Terrazzini.To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • A PhD degree in Biomaterials or equivalent, preferably in the field of nanocarriers for the delivery of therapeutics agents.
  • Previous experience of working as an effective member of a research team with different expertise and background
  • A level of relevant practical/professional expertise; competence in biomaterial science, in vitro biocompatibility tests of biomaterials; knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements.
  • The Research Fellow will work within the School of Applied Sciences and CRMD, located in the Huxley Building, Moulsecoomb Campus, University of Brighton. The Huxley Building hosts state-of-the-art multidisciplinary facilities for chemistry, biochemistry, molecular and cell biology (three main tissue culture rooms for cell lines, primary cells and stem cells), microbiology, and image analysis (including light, confocal, atomic and scanning electron microscopes).
