The company places strong emphasis on continuous improvement, technical excellence, and the rapid development of complex metal components using novel technologies.The RoleThe organisation is seeking a motivated and methodical Health and Safety Advisor to join its team, supporting health and safety compliance and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across its two Oxfordshire sites.Working closely with the H&S Manager and wider operational teams, the successful candidate will engage in a wide variety of activities ranging from site inspections and risk assessments to audits, training and reporting. There is a strong emphasis on staff engagement, mentoring, and collaborative working across office, lab and workshop environments.This is a site-based role requiring travel between two nearby locations, so access to a vehicle and a full UK driving licence are essential.Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and promote high standards of health and safety in a dynamic technical environment
  • Foster a positive safety culture through proactive engagement and support across all departments
  • Conduct risk assessments and review policies, procedures, signage and safety documentation
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to implement effective safety controls
  • Participate in internal and external audits, inspections and compliance checks
  • Lead or support incident and near-miss investigations and follow-up actions
  • Develop and contribute to health and safety reports for leadership and external auditors
  • Support and mentor junior H&S personnel and other staff involved in safety activities
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in health and safety systems and practices
Essential Criteria
  • NEBOSH General
  • Confident communicator with proven influencing skills at all organisational levels
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Competent IT user, with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel locally
Desirable Criteria
  • Working knowledge of regulations including COSHH, DSEAR, ATEX and REACH
  • Experience in assessing risks for industrial machinery and hazardous substances
  • Familiarity with compliance areas such as LEV, pressure systems and water safety
  • Line management or team leadership experience in a safety-related role
