This is a role where your presence and support can make a significant impact on a student’s education, well-being, and future.Role Responsibilities of the SEMH TA:
- Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with SEMH needs.
- Assist in managing challenging behaviour with a calm, proactive approach.
- Help pupils access learning by adapting resources and strategies.
- Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams.
- Build strong relationships with students based on trust and consistency.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to support plans and reviews.
- Experience working with young people with SEMH needs or within an SEN setting.
- A calm, patient, and supportive attitude with strong emotional intelligence.
- Excellent behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
