Passionate Science Teacher (SEN) Needed for a Unique Independent School in West Hoathly, Near East Grinstead, Sussex.Are you an inspiring and dedicated Science Teacher with a passion for making a real difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs?An independent specialist school in the beautiful West Hoathly area is seeking a creative and resilient Science Teacher to join our committed team. We provide a supportive and holistic learning environment for students aged 7-19 who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, social communication difficulties, and a range of other associated learning needs. All our students have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).About the Role:As a Science Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing an engaging and appropriately differentiated Science curriculum that meets the diverse needs of our students. You will foster a love of scientific inquiry and exploration, adapting your teaching methods to ensure all students can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.This role offers the opportunity to work in a unique educational setting with small class sizes, supported by dedicated teaching assistants. You will be part of a collaborative team that values creativity, practical learning, and a child-centred approach. Our school emphasizes the importance of outdoor learning and a holistic approach to education, and there may be opportunities to integrate these elements into your science teaching.We are looking for a Science Teacher who:
  • Has Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Possesses essential experience and a strong understanding of working with students with SEN, particularly those with SEMH, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and communication difficulties.
  • Can create and deliver imaginative and engaging Science lessons tailored to individual student needs and abilities.
  • Is resilient, patient, and possesses excellent behaviour management skills, using a positive and restorative approach.
  • Is a strong team player, able to work effectively with teaching assistants, therapists, and other colleagues.
  • Is committed to our school's values of mutual respect, compassion, responsibility, integrity, resilience, creativity, and innovation.
  • Is enthusiastic about contributing to a nurturing school community where the personal development of students is paramount.
  • Can inspire a curiosity for science and relate it to the everyday lives and experiences of our students.
