Post Title: Youth Justice Team Officer Directorate: Children's Services Division: Adolescent Services Section: Youth Justice Service Location: Central Family Hub, Gorton Street, Blackpool Pay: £19.80 - £23.92 per hour Role Purpose The primary purpose of this post is to protect the public, reduce reoffending, and safeguard children and young people in the criminal justice system. The postholder will deliver on the objectives of the Youth Justice Plan for Blackpool, working to improve outcomes for children and young people in the justice system and to meet local and national performance indicators. Main Duties and Responsibilities The postholder will deliver effective youth justice services in line with National Standards for Youth Justice and Case Management Guidance , including: Undertaking assessments of young people who offend, including specialist assessments (e.g. Sexually Harmful Behaviour, Speech, Language and Communication Needs). Managing bail, remand and high-risk cases (child protection, MAPPA, child sexual exploitation, sexually harmful behaviour). Planning and sequencing of community and custodial sentences. Delivering interventions to address offending behaviour, criminogenic needs, and safeguarding risks (including AIM2 and 'keep safe' interventions). Enforcing statutory court orders to maintain compliance. Preparing pre-sentence and Referral Order Panel reports. Fulfilling Court Officer duties (including weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis). Working in partnership with agencies to coordinate services and share information effectively. Promoting equality, diversity, and anti-discriminatory practice. Acting as Duty Officer as required. Transporting service users (full driving licence and own transport essential - reasonable adjustments considered under the DDA). Lone working in line with policy. Qualifications (Essential unless stated otherwise) One of: CQSW, Diploma/BA in Social Work; Diploma in Probation Studies; Foundation Degree in Youth Justice; NVQ 4 in Community Justice. Youth Justice Effective Practice Certificate. Post-Qualifying Award in Social Work (Desirable). Practice Assessor/Educator Award (Desirable). Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential Experience: Minimum of 2 years' experience working with children, young people and their families/carers Flexible Working Requirements Willingness to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required. Participation in duty officer rota. Court officer responsibilities on a rota basis (including weekends/bank holidays).
