We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Nurse role at HMP Lewes to join our team. HMP Lewes is a category B male prison. Lewes prison is based near the centre of the historical town of Lewes, which is just a 5 minute walk away.Due to HMP Lewes holding remand prisoners, we do require staff to work on a rota basis and you can be asked to work nights, bank holidays and weekends although if you are looking for flexibility we can discuss this at interview stage.HoursThe role will be across 7 days but working 37.5 hours per week. Will likely be 1 weekend a month.SalaryThis position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary up to £43534 per annum FTE - depending on experience.How will we support you?

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.What you'll be doingAs a Mental Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options
  • Undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic
experiences and may be distressed * Assess patient’s health needs using an evidence based framework and be able to risk assess use sound clinical knowledge
  • You will work with individuals providing advice, support and information and manage a case load of patients.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference
  • You will monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects liaising with prescribers as required.
  • Inspire excellence by forging strong links with our partners and stakeholders
  • Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence based care
  • Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multi-disciplinary teams

  • Qualified Mental Health Nurse - NMC registration
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Experience of working with patients, face to face, who have complex mental health conditions
  • Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work and awareness of substance misuse
