- Stay up to date and collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for product enhancements, cost reductions, and quality improvements
- Design components suitable for manufacture while optimising for assembly into the product
- Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including CAD drawings, bills of materials, and engineering change orders
- Design and optimise new solutions for existing products
- Design and optimise tooling, jigs, fixtures, and equipment to improve manufacturing processes and product quality
- Participate in DFMEA & PFMEA activities to proactively identify and mitigate potential design failures and their effects
- Maintain/create components and assemblies using standard software packages such as Epicor ERP System, SolidWorks, and ePDM
- Analyse data and performance metrics to drive decision-making and prioritise improvement initiatives
- Apply Lean methodologies to the design and quality issue processes to eliminate waste, improve efficiency, and enhance product and process quality
- Investigate and identify root causes of product and process issues, implementing corrective actions within the design to prevent recurrence
- Collaborate closely with Production Engineering colleagues to ensure designs/solutions are production ready
- Create and deliver clear and concise presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint to communicate design proposals and project updates
- BSc/BEng (hons) in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) with previous related industrial experience
- HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) plus previous related industrial experience
- Level 4 or higher engineering apprenticeship plus relevant Industrial experience
- A strong methodical virtual/hands-on PDCA mindset
- A keen understanding of lean principles & tools (8 wastes, kaizen, kanban, FMEA, Poka-Yoke etc.) and root cause analysis (A3, 5 Why’s, Fishbone, Fault Tree Analysis etc.) and Six Sigma methodologies
- Proficiency in using Epicor ERP System, SolidWorks, and ePDM for design and data management
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Understanding of Lean principles and experience applying them in a manufacturing environment
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to perform root cause analysis and implement effective solutions
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to interpret and analyse technical data
- Experience in tolerance analysis and DFMEA/PFMEA
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Self-motivated, able to work independently, and collaborate effectively in a cross functional team
- Knowledge of food equipment industry-specific regulations and standards (ETL/UL/NSF etc.)
- Knowledge of sheet metalwork, welding etc.
