- Reception services to patients and visitors
- Deal with general enquiries, explain procedures, make new and follow-up appointments.
- Ensure those patients without appointments but who need urgent consultations are booked into appropriate slots
- Receive and make telephone calls as required.
- Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts
- Work safely in accordance with Practice Policy and Procedures
- Scanning and coding of patient letters
- Summarising medical records
- Typing letters and choose and book / referrals
- Taking prescription requests actioning requests and taking prescription queries to the clinical team
- Involvement in data collection, quality improvement and audit
- Involvement in team meetings
- Taking payments, creating invoices and remittance documents
- Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and temporary residents
- Ensure correspondence are dealt with in a correct and timely manner
- Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy
- Check and action task messages on a daily basis.
- Contribute to planning and delivery of new services and developments
- Provide holiday/sick cover
- Comply with Data Protection and GDPR.
- Use of Systmone clinical system
- Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Partners or the Practice Manager.
- Experience of working with the General Public
- Experience of reception and admin work
- Experience of working within General Practice
- GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths
- Good standard of general education
- IT skills
