The VacancyWRc is looking for a Principal Consultant, who is passionate about developing digital and data science solutions to challenging environmental and engineering issues.This is a full time (37 hours) hybrid role, based at our office in Hattersley, Manchester.The successful candidate will support the Technical Director and wider team across a programme of multidisciplinary data science projects, ensuring that a team of creative and compassionate modellers, software engineers and data scientists delivery high quality outputs and insights within budget.The digital and data science community at WRc provides support across a multidisciplinary portfolio of projects, serving both client facing work as well as the development of internal systems to support the business. Due to the complex and fast evolving nature of the data science field, a central component of role will be to maintain a confident, inclusive, and productive community, to ensure colleagues are empowered to break new ground while delivering highly successful projects on behalf of WRc and its clients.Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee projects from initiation to completion, ensuring that they meet client needs, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with projects.
  • Develop and manage project budgets and resources efficiently. Develop comprehensive product roadmaps in line with WRc's strategic goals.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their needs, constraints, and objectives.
  • Provide clients with strategic recommendations based on technical analyses and assessments.
  • Ensure client satisfaction through effective communication and delivery of high-quality services.
  • Foster an innovative environment to drive the development of industry-leading SaaS products.
  • Define key performance metrics and monitor product performance post-launch to inform future product development strategies.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to the product development team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Support the Technical Director for the creation of a customer success team in charge of customer onboarding, support, and retention.
Person Specification:
  • Advanced degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related scientific field.
  • Previous proven experience in water-related projects.
  • Certifications and licenses such as Professional Engineer (PE) may be required or preferred.
  • Possess advanced knowledge of water treatment processes, water quality, hydraulic modelling, and related technologies.
  • Able to develop solutions for complex water-related problems, such as water scarcity, contamination, and infrastructure degradation.
  • Propose and implement innovative solutions and technologies for improving water management and treatment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in the use of water modelling and analysis software.
  • Ability to work in a team and lead projects.
Salary & Benefits:
