Job Description:Wood Digital Consulting (DC) is recruiting for a Safety Engineer specialising in DSEAR to support one of our UK projects.This is a hybrid role that can be based anywhere in the UK, mobility and travel to customer sites and face to face meetings with colleagues will be expected as required.Applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.The DSEAR specialist safety engineer will help produce the documentation and lead the implementation of DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations) and ATEX (Atmosphères Explosibles) compliance across gas plant projects.Responsibilities:
  • Conduct detailed risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for explosive atmospheres. Design and implement safety systems in compliance with DSEAR and ATEX directives
  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to integrate safety requirements into project designs. Oversee the selection and maintenance of equipment used in explosive atmospheres, ensuring compliance with relevant standards
  • Provide expert advice on the classification of hazardous areas and the selection of appropriate protective measures. Lead training and awareness sessions on DSEAR and ATEX for project teams and contractors
  • Produce Explosion protection documents per site in line with company standards
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in appropriate engineering subject
  • Experienced engineer with sound technical background and expertise
  • Experienced in the use of appropriate codes of practice, standards and relevant sections of statutory documentation
  • Highly experienced in use of design and assessment methods used
  • Experienced in use of analytical methods used within discipline including theoretical background for analysis programs
  • Experienced in working with other disciplines and sections to meet delivery dates
  • Experienced in quality control requirements and quality assurance for engineering work
  • Experienced in design safety / environmental requirements, procedures and responsibilities for others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive approach
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
