We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in West Northamptonshire to assist with the appointment of a Building Control Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.Rate of Pay: £55.00 - £69.23 per hourSummary:The Building Control Officer will play a vital role in ensuring that building projects within West Northamptonshire comply with the Building Regulations, Building Safety Act, and other relevant legislation. This includes plan checking, site inspections, and advising professionals and the public on compliance. The role requires proactive management of a varied caseload, investigation of breaches, and contribution to maintaining WNCs reputation for delivering excellent customer-focused services.Responsibilities:
  • Manage a varied caseload of building regulation applications in accordance with Class 2 registration level.
  • Inspect building works on site to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and relevant Acts.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records, producing reports as required.
  • Provide expert advice to architects, builders, developers, and members of the public.
  • Investigate and resolve breaches of Building Regulations, including preparing evidence and representing the council in court when required.
Requirements:
  • Registered Building Inspector with the Building Safety Regulator minimum Class 2A.
  • Degree in a relevant subject.
  • Membership of ABE, RICS, or CIOB.
  • Strong knowledge of Building Control Act 1984, Building Safety Act 2022, and building regulation procedures.
  • Professional background in Building Control Surveying with proven track record of compliance inspections, plan assessments, and enforcement actions.
Experience :
  • Proven experience in Building Control Surveying.
  • Customer-facing experience providing expert regulatory advice.
  • Experience in managing site safety and statutory compliance processes.
