This is a rewarding opportunity for a skilled practitioner who is passionate about working with disabled children and young people, and who can navigate both disability and safeguarding pathways with confidence.The Children with Disabilities Team manages cases where the child’s disability is the primary factor impacting on outcomes and planning. The team works holistically with families, providing both support services and protection where needed, including Short Break assessments, Child in Need, Child Protection, and Care Proceedings.What You Can Expect:A welcoming and experienced team with strong service valuesHolistic approach to disability and safeguardingInvolvement in diverse casework including short breaks, CIN, CP, and courtOpportunities to work with Cared for Children, including those under Section 20 and Care OrdersA stable local authority with clear structures and experienced managementReflective supervision and opportunities to share expertiseDuties and Responsibilities:Assess children with diagnosed disabilities and/or complex health needsCarry out Short Break assessments and plan appropriate support packagesHold cases involving Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After ChildrenComplete statutory assessments, risk analysis, and child-focused plansManage cases within Public Law Outline and contribute to court proceedings as neededLiaise with families, schools, health, and voluntary agencies to ensure joined-up supportMaintain clear, timely and evidence-based recordingEnsure plans meet statutory requirements and promote positive outcomes for disabled childrenRequirements:Social Work England (SWE) RegistrationRecognised Social Work qualificationExperience working in Children with Disabilities teams or similar servicesSound knowledge of safeguarding, disability legislation, and care planning frameworksConfidence managing a varied and complex caseloadStrong communication, assessment and report-writing skillsContact: Emily Cooper – 07745200325 |
