Help get better trained personnel to the front line faster – This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced professional to make a lasting impact by mentoring the next generation of Royal Navy engineers—leveraging your career expertise without the need for prior teaching experience!Project Selborne is a Transformational Training programme with a strategic goal of modernising Royal Navy training to deliver “better trained sailors to the front line faster”.Your role will be to deliver advanced diesel engine training up to Foundation Degree level.This role is offered on a term time basis working 45 weeks per year, with non-working weeks taken 2 weeks at Christmas and Easter and 3 weeks in August. The salary will therefore be pro rata’d and calculated to include contractual annual leave entitlement and bank holidays.Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.Job title: Training Delivery Instructor - Diesel EnginesJob Description:What you’ll be doing
  • Delivering diesel engine theory and practical training to Service and Civilian trainees up to and including Foundation Degree Level for the Royal Navy.
  • Prepare and administer course documentation including assessing and marking written and practical examinations and developing new course material to keep in line with new technologies and equipment.
  • Undertake maintenance and repair of training equipment and training aids.
  • Maintain professional currency by personal study, including attendance at courses relating to new technology, equipment, techniques, legislation and systems.
  • Secondary roles include providing Subject Matter Expertise on the courses delivered and liaising with external authorities, ships, establishments and other military units to provide technical support and advise where required.
What we’re looking forEssential Skills/Experience/Qualifications
  • Minimum of level 3 qualification in engineering or relevant apprenticeship
  • Proven experience of working with Diesel engines
Desirable Skills/Experience/Qualifications
  • Previous instructional experience in a military or civilian engineering environment
  • Level 4 Teaching Qualification / DTC Defence Trainer Course or equivalent.
  • Execute a secondary role as a Transmissions and/or Fuels Courses Trainer, cross training in this area will be supported with on site training if no qualifications are held.
