An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior CNC Milling Programmer/Setter/Operator to join a growing precision engineering team. This is a hands-on role involving programming, setting, and operating a range of 3-axis, 5-axis, and palletised 5-axis CNC milling machines, with some exposure to CNC wire-eroders. The successful candidate will lead within the milling section, overseeing a group of machines and mentoring junior team members.Key Responsibilities:
- Programming, setting, and operating CNC milling machines
- Interpreting technical drawings and 3D digital models
- Producing prototypes and low-volume batch runs
- Performing in-process inspection using both CMM and manual gauges
- Maintaining a clean and efficient working environment
- Ensuring all parts meet required quality standards
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members
- Working collaboratively to maintain productivity and meet deadlines
- Proven supervisory or leadership experience in a machine shop
- Time-served or apprenticeship-trained in precision engineering
- Strong knowledge of Heidenhain controls and programming
- Skilled in CMM and manual inspection techniques
- Experience using CAM software (SolidCam preferred)
- Comfortable working to tight tolerances with complex materials such as Inconel, titanium, mild steel, aluminium-bronze, plastics, super duplex, and more
- Confident proving unproven programs safely and efficiently
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
- Positive team player with a flexible and proactive mindset
- Relevant Engineering qualification (NVQ, HNC, BTEC, or equivalent)
- Apprenticeship in mechanical or precision engineering (ideal)
