Mobile Plant FitterManchester£45,000 to £50,000 (OTE £60,000+)Neos Engineering are partnered with an established engineering firm operating a nationwide hire fleet of hydraulic and diesel-driven machinery, including mobile shredders powered by Scania engines. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a skilled Plant Fitter to support the maintenance and reliability of their equipment across the UK (excluding Scotland and Ireland).The RoleYou will work closely with an experienced engineer, performing maintenance, breakdown response, and demo work on machinery that includes hydraulics, diesel engines, electrics, and more. The position offers a varied mix of workshop and field-based work, with occasional nights away from home—some weeks none, other weeks 1–2 nights (sometimes at short notice).Key responsibilities:
  • Servicing and repairing plant machinery
  • Responding to equipment breakdowns across the UK
  • Carrying out demonstrations and inspections
  • Ensuring high standards of safety and equipment reliability
Hours:
  • 40.5 hours per week
  • Monday–Thursday: 08:00–17:30
  • Friday: 08:00–15:30
  • ½ hour lunch break daily
The CandidateWe are looking for a qualified Plant Fitter holding either an NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent. You should have hands-on experience with diesel and hydraulic systems and be comfortable working both independently and alongside an experienced engineer.Essential requirements:
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plant Maintenance
  • Experience working with diesel engines and hydraulics
  • Flexible with travel and occasional overnight stays
  • Reliable and self-motivated
Desirable:
  • Experience working on Scania engines or mobile shredders
  • Electrical diagnostics knowledge
