The successful applicant will be responsible as an advanced specialist for leading and providing safe, efficient and cost-effective clinical pharmacy services to patients diagnosed with an inflammatory bowel disease at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.Main duties of the job
  • To support the provision of high-quality pharmaceutical care to patients diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease
  • To clinically assess and treat IBD patients effectively in scheduled outpatient clinics according to prescribed job plan, utilising skills as a Pharmacist Independent Prescriber as and when required.
  • To contribute to the development of prescribing policies for groups of patients treated by the clinical specialists e.g. Shared Care Guidelines for care of patients across primary/secondary care.
  • To support the safe and cost-effective use of high-cost drug therapies within the field of inflammatory bowel disease.
  • To horizon scan for upcoming novel therapeutics and proactively submit new drug applications to the Trust's Medicines Optimisation Group to support prompt access to new therapeutics.
  • To engage with colleagues in the pharmaceutical industry to identify and gain access to commercial financial agreements and rebate schemes to ensure resources are utilised effectively.
