
Publication Selection Specialist (Web of Science)

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience within a journal editorial or publishing department at a reputable STM publisher, or equivalent academic experience, e.g., PhD/postdoc within the Physical Sciences
- Excellent English language verbal and written skills to effectively and accurately communicate complex information and data internally and externally
- Understanding of the conventions of, and developments in, scholarly publishing
- Proven ability to make and take ownership of data-driven decisions
- Experience using the Web of Science
- Strong Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Meticulous attention to detail & Critical appraisal skills
- Proven experience in customer-facing situations that require the requisite diplomacy, discretion, and professionalism
- Knowledge of how bibliometrics are used in editorial and academic research contexts
- Evaluate journals in line with the Web of Science selection criteria and make decisions in consultation with manager
- Investigate, resolve, and reply to enquiries from publishers regarding coverage and selection criteria
- Own coverage-related decisions and ensure these are completed and clearly communicated to publishers according to defined KPIs
- Collaborate within the Web of Science editorial team to ensure efficiency and consistency of decision making
- Contribute towards the maintenance and curation of dynamic collections of scholarly journals for indexing in the Web of Science Core Collection
- Actively participate in team discussions about policy, process, and workflows
- Keep up with developments in the publishing industry that could influence Web of Science editorial processes
- Support colleagues as needed in ensuring a smooth handover from content selection to content indexing
