Job Description Leisure & Culture Dundee is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) SC042421. It was established by Dundee City Council in July 2011 to deliver leisure, sports, library, information and cultural services for the city. www.leisureandculturedundee.com Leisure and Culture Dundee, in partnership with Dundee City Council, is looking to recruit an Active Schools Project Worker - Young Carers to join our successful Active Schools Team. Working 16 hours per week, this exciting role requires candidates to support the development, implementation and evaluation of Young Carers accessing the Active Schools Programme, and the wider sports network. To build strong relationships with Young Carers in the programme to support and increase their levels of activity to improve and change lives through sport. To build strong relationships with referrers in the city to ensure that Young Carers are appropriately referred and supported. The hours of work are during term time, working 45 weeks per year.Requirements Educated to HND Level in sport or equivalent, or in a related subject. OR If no formal qualification, exceptional relevant work experienceResponsibilities To support the development, implementation and evaluation of Young Carers accessing the Active Schools Programme, and the wider sports network. Active Schools are developing a programme to help Young Carers learn, develop, and achieve with a focus on targeting and promoting both better physical and mental wellbeing. As well as improve health, access to sporting opportunities, and increased physical activity for Young Carers who currently do not regularly access Active Schools provision, sport clubs and leisure facilities. To build strong relationships with Young Carers within the programme to support and increase their levels of activity. To build strong relationships with referrers in the city to ensure that Young Carers are appropriately referred and supported.The Individual Candidates should also have experience engaging with hard-to-reach groups through sport and physical activity in education, sport, health, community, leisure or other related fields. Candidate should have a clear understanding of the benefits that physical activity and sport can bring to all, but especially young people. A knowledge and understanding of the sport and leisure industry and or health promotion and health services and the ability to build positive relationships with young people and become a role model. In addition, the candidate should have excellent organisational and planning skills, ability to work in a team and independently and be self-motivated. Can communicate effectively with children and young people. Other skills include excellent interpersonal skills, flexible and adaptable, excellent leadership skills and the ability to motivate and enthuse others. Must be willing to work flexible hours including weekend work where required. Must be willing to undertake personal development. Must have a full clean driver's license. Member of PVG Scheme or willingness to become a member of the PVG Scheme with satisfactory Scheme Record and/or Scheme Record Update.
