- Veterinary Degree: Must hold a recognised degree in Veterinary Medicine (MRCVS).
- RCVS Registration: Full registration with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).
- Clinical Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in a small animal practice or mixed practice environment.
- Surgical Skills: Competency in routine surgical procedures, including spaying, neutering, and dental work.
- Diagnostic Skills: Proficiency in using diagnostic tools such as X-rays, ultrasound, and laboratory tests to diagnose and treat animals.
- Client Communication: Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information to clients in a clear and empathetic manner.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, receptionists, and other veterinary surgeons.
- CPD Commitment: A commitment to continuous professional development and keeping up-to-date with the latest veterinary practices and procedures.
- Specialist Interests: Additional qualifications or special interests in areas such as orthopaedics, dermatology, or exotic pets.
- Emergency Care: Experience in providing emergency and critical care.
- Business Acumen: Understanding of the business aspects of a veterinary practice, including client management and practice promotion.
- Soft Skills: Compassionate, patient, and calm under pressure, with excellent problem-solving skills.
