Class 2 Building Control SurveyorVenn Group is working with a Local Authority based in Hampshire to recruit a Building Surveyor with the majority of role will be site inspections and some plan checking.Rate: £475-525 per day umbrella (Inside IR35)Duration: 3 months initiallyLocation: HampshireThe successful candidate will:
  • The delivery of the Council’s policies, standards, values and objectives
  • Participation in the delivery of a comprehensive and primarily statutory based Building Control Service, focused on health and safety, sustainability and accessibility throughout the built environment
  • Participation in the Unit’s site inspection process to ensure compliance with the regulatory and policy standards
  • Undertake the checking of Building Regulation proposals for compliance and undertake special projects appropriate to the grade, as directed
The successful candidate will have:
  • Registered with the Building Safety Regulator at Class 2
  • Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Building Studies or Equivalent
  • Knowledge of applying Building Regulations, Building Act and associated legislation to enable enforcement via plan checking and site inspections (Training will be provided)
  • Ability to read and understand plans in order to check and apply standards in Approved Documents
  • Good knowledge of construction in order to check compliance of building work on site
  • Good understanding of enforcement procedures to enable legal action to be taken on non-compliant building work (Training will be provided)
  • Ability to deal with dangerous structures in order to ensure public safety (Training will be provided)
  • Good communication skills including written and verbal to advise customers effectively
  • Ability to carry out inspections of buildings and construction works to identify compliance with Approved Documents and standards
