- Research and review project requirements and design information to determine if it is sufficient to complete the drawing while ensuring that the design concept can be met.
- Assist with the preparation of standard engineering documents and calculations, using SolidWorks for drafting purposes.
- Use of Solid Works PDM vault system for document and revision control.
- Use of Solid Works Simulation Express to perform basic structural integrity checks.
- Use of Navis Works Freedom to manipulate BIM models
- Coordinate with the Sales Engineers, Project Managers and Operations Managers to establish essential functions and deadlines necessary to finish specific projects.
- Specifies and sources bought-out components and creates of Bills of Materials (“BOM”)
- Produce General Arrangement Drawings and design-for-manufacture (“DFM”) detail models and drawings in line with customer requirements and Company standard practices.
- Reviews drawings and 3D models from other Contracts Engineers to ensure alignment with scoping and corporate drawing standards.
- Complete the drawing process using the information contained within the documents and in line with the Scope of Work; make necessary amendments to existing drawings following the quality review process.
- Other job duties as required.
- Ensure that projects are designed, manufactured, and installed in accordance with any specifications and standards issued by clients, any associated BS/Euro standards and Wakefield Acoustics own standards and process.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, client engineers, and CAD support staff, to develop and integrate new platform features.
- Quality Assurance: Design testing methods and fixtures, and confirm fabrication, assembly, and installation processes to assure system and product quality.
- Attend design meetings to ensure that the design is aligned with the scope of work and specifications.
- Attend production meetings, design reviews, and kick off meetings as & when required and ensure that any actions are communicated back to the wider engineering team.
- Documentation: Produce detailed design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and project status reports.
- Proficiency in CAD software, strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and excellent communication.
- Outstanding Communication skills – ability to communicate effectively at all levels, verbally, in writing and in group setting.
- Commitment to health and safety standards, quality, and continuous personal performance improvement.
- Extensive design experience. Ideally in the manufacturing & power generation industry (specifically diesel generators or switch gear).
- HND/ Degree or equivalent in relevant discipline.
- General understanding of engineering.
- Ability to travel, as required.
- Understanding of Engineering systems, process, best practice.
- Strong analytical ability and a clear thinker.
- Outstanding technical ability in steel fabrication & mechanical engineering.
- Degree in relevant discipline.
- Experience with steel manufacturing.
- Experience within the power generation industry.
- Structural engineering experience.
- Acoustic engineering experience
- A ONC/ OND in engineering.
- 3+ years solid works / inventor
- Microsoft Office
