Our purpose is to create our best world, a ton at a time; empowering our customers to transform their materials into valuable resources for the betterment of people, planet, and their bottom lines.Discover more about life at CDEAbout the roleReporting to the Product Development Manager, the successful candidate will be a creative problem solver with the ability to critically assess current technology in the materials handling and processing industry, and will be a key player in the design and development of market-leading solutions. The job will be high impact, with exposure to and input on all aspects of the new product development process. It will have a high degree of creative autonomy; you'll be joining a highly dynamic and agile team of truly innovative individuals.Roles:- Research new processes and technologies to generate ideas for improving existing product range and for creating new products.- Creation of innovative concepts to address project requirements, and development of these concepts into solutions that can practically and realistically be implemented.- Manage new projects from initial roadmap idea, to fully tested and commercially viable products.- Design of new parts and assemblies within a structured product development process from concept, design, support factory build and on-site testing, while adhering to a project plan.- Creation of detailed engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOM's) for procurement and manufacturing of new parts and assemblies.- Liaison with Suppliers to ensure designs are within manufacturing capabilities.- Co-ordinate with other departments to ensure all relevant input is considered and any concerns addressed.- Participate in Quality reviews and processes- Co-ordinate with key stakeholders on project statusResponsibilities:- Follow design processes and procedures to ensure high quality engineering drawings and BOM's are in line with company standards.- Interpreting and complying with international standards relating to the design of machinery, particularly those applicable to health and safety.- Adherence to project plans to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.- Excellent communication, ensuring all internal stakeholders are kept informed of project progress and issues as they arise.- Reviewing and addressing quality issues associated with new and existing designs, while closing-out non-conformance reports (NCR's) in a timely manner.- Focus on reducing costs, increasing standardization and modularization, while carefully considering Design for Manufacture (DFM).- Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance product quality, and features, while reducing product costs when possible.- Compliance with all company policies, including those for health and safety.About the companyCreating Our Best World a Ton at a Time - Global Leaders in Waste Repurposing & Natural Materials Processing SolutionsRequired Criteria
  • Educated to Batchelors degree level in an relevant Engineering discipline, e.g. Mechanical Engineering, 2.1 (Honours) or above
  • Computer literate in Windows based Software Packages and a 3D CAD package, preferably Solid Edge
  • Experience in Draughting, BOM Creation, Design for Manufacture
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Design office creating 3D CAD models and engineering drawings.
  • Product improvement, and Research and Development (R&D) experience
  • Engineering calculations experience

  • The ability to communicate effectively in writing, orally, and through presentations
  • Ability to coordinate with manufacturers
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage and plan projects, including setting and adhering to time-lines
  • Available to work flexible hours
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently
  • Current driving licence and vehicle insured for business use
  • Masters level engineering degree
  • Hands-on Finite Element Analysis (FEA), or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) experience.
  • Experience in the materials handling and processing industry
