As a Trainee or Apprentice at SK, we view you as the future of our firm and future leader of your chosen area of law which is why we invest our time and expertise into providing a valuable and supportive training experience. We are national leaders in the fields of Charity and Education and in addition have highly regarded teams in the Private Client, Faith and Business sectors. This level of expertise and choice provides a well- rounded and comprehensive training experience, the foundation of a successful career.Our Training Contracts are divided into four seats of six months each, allowing you to get real hands on experience in a Team that values your contribution, however availability in each seat will be subject to business needs in each team.This training contract will likely consist of seats in the following practice areas: Education, Employment and Commercial Property. Other practice areas might be available but this is subject to business needs.Your TrainingYour work will be hands on from the outset, providing you with the full skillset to become an exceptional lawyer.General duties include, but are not limited to:-
  • Attending to clients of the Firm in the office or elsewhere if needed;
  • Drafting documents and producing research;
  • Involvement in Marketing and Business Development events and activities;
  • Communicating promptly and effectively both internally to colleagues and externally to clients;
  • Attending, and being involved in preparation for, Team meetings;
  • Carrying out work for both colleagues and clients to the highest possible standard, having regard to the Firm’s standards, procedures and Core Values;
  • Working in a collegiate and collaborative way within an immediate Team and wider Firm environment;
  • Maintaining your continuing professional development requirements and taking an active interest in furthering your knowledge within the field of law.
  • Adhering to firm's time recording requirements.
RequirementsRequirementsEssential
  • To be eligible for the Training Contract, candidates must have completed or be in the process of completing the LPC / SQE. Candidate must have completed the LPC before commencing the Training Contract.
  • To be eligible for the Apprenticeship, candidates must have completed a law degree or the law conversion course (GDL/PGDL).
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Be able to demonstrate strong problem solving skills as well as use of initiative.
  • Willingness to learn and develop.
  • Experience of organising workload and meeting deadlines.
Desirable
  • Aligns with our ethos and core values of ‘TRUST’.
  • Can demonstrate strong commercial awareness.
  • Experience in legal sector is desirable.
  • Experience / interest in the sectors we work in.
