An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Cardiologist in Adult Congenital Heart Disease with sub-specialty interest in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging to work within the University Hospital of Wales and across the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and South Wales network. This is a permanent full-time post which will complement the present team of 15 'in-house' Clinical Cardiologists delivering tertiary cardiac services of the highest standard to a population of 1.3 million people.This post has been developed as part of an expansion of the ACHD service commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialist Services Committee (WHSC). This service works on a hub and spoke model with Cardiff and Vale UHB acting as the level 2 hub with identified links into Bristol and outreaching to each Health Board across South Wales.Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary range for this post is £91,722 per annum to £119,079 per annum plus a further £26,672 per annum available in Commitment Awards. Consultants in Wales paid on one of the first three points of the substantive Consultant pay scale also receive a Wales recruitment incentive payment.Main duties of the jobWorking in collaboration with Consultant colleagues, the post holder will be responsible for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Adult Congenital Heart Disease across the region of South Wales.The majority of the post holder's time will be spent in assessing and treating patients with ACHD, however there will be dedicated time for developing a special interest in ACHD MRI supported by other imaging modalities.The appointee will be expected to support the expansion and strengthening of the ACHD clinical network and develop close links with colleagues at the level 1 centre in Bristol in the diagnostic and treatment planning facilitated through the MDT process.Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.Applicants must ensure they provide names and contact details of referees covering at least the last 3 years of their employment/training history in full.   • On GMC Specialist Register for specialty / Specialty Registrar with CCT / CESR(CP) due within six months of interview date
  • MRCP or equivalent (overseas equivalence to be assessed in any individual case)
  • Training in ACHD or equivalent clinical experience
