- Providing tailored 1:1 and small group support to students, helping them to access the curriculum and engage in all aspects of school life.
- Assisting in the planning and adaptation of learning materials to meet individual student needs.
- Implementing and contributing to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Fostering the development of students' self-esteem, independence, and social skills.
- Employing positive behaviour management strategies to support a calm and productive classroom atmosphere.
- Liaising with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
- A genuine desire to work with young people with special educational needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, understanding, and a calm and encouraging demeanour.
- The ability to be proactive, flexible, and work effectively as part of a team.
- A minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent). Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, are highly desirable.
- Previous experience working with children or young people with special needs is advantageous but not essential for those with the right attitude and a willingness to learn.
