
SEN Teaching Assistant

- Working with Primary aged students aged 5-11 supporting pupils with special educational needs, Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties enabling students to access learning and thrive in a mainstream or specialist school setting.
- Work in a 1:1 setting or with small groups to differentiate learning activities.
- Reinforce lessons delivered by the teacher.
- Use tailored approaches to meet the child’s individual learning style.
- Assist pupils to engage with class activities and the wider school community.
- Adapt materials and provide additional resources as nee
- A primary school setting that caters to young learners aged 5 to 11, with an emphasis on providing extensive support, particularly for those with additional needs, supporting a range of needs including: - Social Emotional Mental Health, Autism/ADHD and non-verbal pupils.
- The school has a learning environment where resources and activities are consistently available for pupils to engage with. This approach supports self-directed learning, helping children develop independence and decision-making skills, while also providing a structured foundation for more focused learning sessions.
- The school prioritises language development, offering speech and language therapy as an integral part of the school day, which is particularly beneficial for children with communication difficulties or those who need additional support with literacy and language skills.
- With a focus on continuous provision and clinical support the school fosters a strong commitment to inclusivity, where every child, regardless of ability or need, is given the tools and opportunities to thrive.
- Experience working with children, ideally in an educational setting.
- Experience supporting children with special educational needs (SEN), particularly autism, ADHD, or speech and language difficulties.
- Experience using visual supports, communication aids, or behaviour support strategies (desirable but not always essential).
- Able to build positive, trusting relationships with children.
- Clear and confident communication with children and adults.
- Good organisation andtime management.
- Able to work independentlyand as part of a team.
- Patient, calm, and emotionally resilient.
- Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
