This role includes an RSU allowance of £1,446 per annum on top of your salaryWe are recruiting for a full-time Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team at Marlborough House in Milton KeynesMarlborough House is a 28-bed, medium-secure forensic mental health inpatient unit that provides care for men in conditions of medium security. The unit consists of two wards: a 20-bed acute ward and an 8-bed rehabilitation ward. It is part of the Thames Valley Forensic Mental Health Service and is located on the Milton Keynes University Hospital Site.Recovery is a key element of our approach to treatment at Marlborough house, assisting patients in their journey to change attitudes, values, feelings, goals, and skills. The Recovery Approach is about finding and maintaining hope, re-establishing a positive identity, building a meaningful life, and taking responsibility and control.You'll work under the supervision of our OTs to carry out routine occupational therapy interventions and basic assessments with clients, provide administrative support to the team and facilitate therapeutic groups.If you're looking to start your career as an OT within forensic mental health this could be the perfect role for you!Main duties of the job
  • Carry out routine occupational therapy intervention and basic assessments with clients as directed by OTs.
  • Evaluate OT interventions delegated by the OT
  • Provide administrative support to the occupational therapy team with the development of occupational therapy resources, and preparation of materials for intervention.
  • Support the occupational therapy team with the facilitation of therapeutic groups.
  • To be an active member of the Marlborough House team, recording and updating clinical records and sharing information with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Use practical and technical skills with patients to assist them in meeting individual need-based goals, as directed by the OT case managing the patient and their wider clinical team.
  • Plan and co-ordinate a program of therapeutic activities with the wider OT team and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Assist in identifying patient's strengths and needs in order to plan and implement suitable therapy interventions for groups and individual patients
