Salary: £230 - £300 per dayStart Date: ASAPAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Civils Site Manager with an SMSTS qualification to oversee and manage civil engineering works on a single live project based in Cambridge. The role will focus on ensuring that all works are delivered safely on time, to specification, and within budget.Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day site operations, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Lead site teams, subcontractors, and operatives to deliver civil engineering works including (but not limited to) groundworks, drainage and earthworks.
  • Chair and deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and daily briefings.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with CDM regulations and client requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Review method statements and risk assessments (RAMS) and ensure safe systems of work are in place.
  • Maintain accurate site records including daily diaries, progress reports, and quality documentation.
  • Manage site logistics, plant, and materials efficiently.
  • Drive high standards of quality, productivity, and workmanship.
  • Ensure all works are completed in line with drawings, specifications, and agreed programme.
Requirements
  • Valid SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification. SSSTS may be considered
  • Proven background in civil engineering / groundworks / infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and industry best practice.
  • CSCS (Black or Gold) card holder (preferred).
  • First Aid at Work qualification (preferred).
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
