The school therefore emphasises the importance of collaboration between staff, students, parents, and management for success. Their strong pastoral system provides support, guidance, and a secure environment for students to thrive and develop confidence. The school also collaborates closely with the Dorset SEND team to swiftly identify and support pupil needs. Staff undergo regular training and updates on SEND support strategies from various professionals and agencies. Special Educational Needs and Disability strategies are meticulously planned and monitored to ensure optimal outcomes for all pupils, irrespective of SEND status.About the Role:As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students to provide one-to-one and group support, focusing on both emotional wellbeing and academic progress.Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to students with mental health needs in classroom and pastoral settings.
- Assist students in developing coping mechanisms, self-regulation, and confidence.
- Work with teachers to adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
- Encourage student engagement and participation in lessons and activities.
- Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback to students and staff.
- Foster a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment.
- Support students in building social skills and resilience to overcome challenges.
- Maintain clear records and communicate effectively with staff and parents when necessary.
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational or mental health setting is desirable but not mandatory.
- A genuine passion for supporting mental health and wellbeing.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and empathetic under pressure.
- Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3 in Childcare, Teaching Assistance, or a degree in Psychology/Education are desirable.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices (training will be provided).
