This position is responsible for supporting plant leadership in achieving business and financial goals by developing and maintaining robust manufacturing and quality processes and leading continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. Acts as liaison between the Manufacturing Cell and other groups (including the NPI team, Customers and Suppliers), for Manufacturing and Quality Engineering issues throughout the product lifecycle. Participates in New Product Introduction projects, requires an awareness of Advanced Product Quality Planning and other tools to ensure internal and external product and process requirements are met. Develops and maintains robust, cost efficient manufacturing processes consistent with Lean Manufacturing methodologies. Utilizes appropriate statistical methodologies to evaluate and reduce product, people and process variation. Maintains effective PFMEA's, Control Plans & SOP through systematic reviews Measures, monitors and analyses customer and productivity metrics, participates in and leads teams to continuously improve performance. Reports data and improvement plans to Bedhampton site Leadership and customers. Solves technical process problems utilizing structured approaches such as 8D, Six Sigma, A3 etc. Support of activities relating to the implementation and improvement of Quality, Environment, Health and Safety Management Systems, throughout the Manufacturing Cell. Participates in and leads audits of products and processes against Quality and EHS Management System requirements. Contribute to the design and delivery of training relating to products, production processes, and to processes as they relate to Quality and EHS Management Systems. Participates in the specification, procurement and validation of capital equipment, test rigs, tooling, gauging, and measurement equipment etc. Bachelors degree in a Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering discipline. Hydraulics or Pneumatics emphasis would be a benefit. Previous experience working in a high precision manufacturing and engineering environment. Awareness of Advanced Product Quality Planning techniques - i.e. PFMEA, Critical to Quality Characteristics, Control Plans etc Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques - i.e. value stream mapping, one piece flow, etc. Working knowledge of Six Sigma concepts and tools as they relate to minimizing process / product variation - i.e. regression analysis, design of experiments, hypothesis testing, etc. Thorough understanding of problem solving methodologies used in determining root cause and formulating corrective action(s) - i.e. thought maps, 8D, root cause analysis, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis, Gage R & R, control charts, Pareto charts, etc. Fully conversant with the use of hand held measuring equipment, engineering drawings and geometric tolerances. Proficiency in various software applications such as CAD ('Pro Engineer' a benefit), spreadsheets and databases. Ability to implement complex macro, formulae and formatting. Knowledge of regulatory, industry and customer specific quality processes (i.e., EASA Parts 21G and 145, AS9100, ISO14000 etc). Ability to lead & participate in cross-functional process improvement/problem solving teams Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team.
