Job Title: Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer
Location: Crewe
Salary: £52,000 per annum
Shifts: 4 on 4 off - 2 Days / 2 Nights / 4 Off (06:00 - 18:00 and 18:00 - 06:00)Overview:We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturing business for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer based in Crewe. This is an exciting opportunity to play a critical role in maintaining and improving plant performance in a safe and efficient manner.Key Duties & Responsibilities:Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and prioritise maintenance tasks in collaboration with the Shift Supervisor.
Conduct repairs and preventative maintenance across all site machinery and equipment.
Monitor and maintain appropriate stock levels of critical spare parts.
Liaise with contractors ensuring compliance with all company procedures; take corrective action where necessary.
Provide technical support and guidance to production teams to optimise equipment uptime and reliability.
Recommend and implement improvements to enhance machinery performance and plant efficiency.
Take an active role in personal and team development through training and skills enhancement.
Ensure all chemicals used are food safe and stored in line with company policies.
Participate in and lead ad hoc engineering projects as required.
Provide temporary cover for the Shift Supervisor when needed.
Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested.
Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities:Always work in a safe manner and adhere to site safety procedures and signage.
Identify and report hazards, unsafe behaviours, or equipment issues that may impact health and safety.
Fully engage in all health, safety and environmental training, toolbox talks and briefings.
Use personal protective equipment correctly and maintain high housekeeping standards.
Report all incidents, near misses, and health issues; assist in investigations as needed.
Be a role model for safe working practices, especially for new team members.
Food Safety & Quality Responsibilities:Comply with all Food Safety, Quality and Hygiene policies and procedures.
Maintain personal hygiene and adhere to department-specific hygiene standards.
Apply Clean As You Go (CAYG) principles to ensure a hygienic working environment.
Requirements:Level 3 qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (multi-skilled preferred).
Minimum 2 years' hands-on experience in a manufacturing/maintenance role (ideally food sector).
Strong fault-finding and repair experience across mechanical and electrical systems.
Desirable Knowledge/Qualifications:IOSH Health & Safety qualification
Food Safety / HACCP awareness
Working knowledge of PLCs (Siemens S7, Mitsubishi)
Inverter knowledge (Lenz, Mitsubishi, ABB)
Experience with industrial robots (ABB)
PUWER & Supply of Machinery Regulations 2008
Good IT/computer literacy
