We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistants to join a vibrant and supportive special primary school in Knowsley, Liverpool. The school caters to pupils aged 4 to 11 with a range of social, emotional, and behavioural needs, as well as additional learning difficulties.This community-focused school values communication, positive relationships, independence, and emotional well-being. Staff work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies to provide a nurturing, inclusive, and structured environment where every child can thrive.Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needsAssist pupils with their learning, emotional regulation, and daily routinesPromote positive behaviour strategies and support de-escalation where neededEncourage independence, resilience, and social skills through consistent, positive reinforcementWork closely with teachers and other support staff to deliver tailored interventionsRequirements
Minimum of 6 months classroom or behaviour support experience in the UKExperience working with children with SEND, SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health), or behavioural challenges is desirablePassionate about supporting vulnerable learners in a special needs settingAble to build strong, trusting relationships with children and staffEligibility
Right to work in the UKEnhanced Child Barred List DBS (on the Update Service or willing to apply)Two professional references related to childcare or educationAvailable to work full-time from September 2025What We Offer
