Are you a talented Science teacher looking to step into leadership? A School in Barking is seeking an Assistant Head of Science to join the department from September 2025.This full-time, permanent role comes with a TLR2b (£5,640) and involves leading on Key Stage 4 Science provision, supporting curriculum development, and helping drive teaching and learning across the department.You'll work alongside a collaborative team of subject specialists and benefit from a supportive leadership structure, strong CPD, and a forward-thinking school culture.   • Lead on the strategic delivery and assessment of Science at KS4
  • Support the Head of Department in raising standards across the faculty
  • Coach and mentor staff to improve pedagogy and student outcomes
  • Monitor data and coordinate interventions for pupil progress
  • Contribute to curriculum development, planning, and resource creation
  • Support departmental CPD and whole-school initiatives
  • Model high-quality teaching and contribute to a culture of ambition and success
Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Strong experience teaching Science, ideally with KS4 focus
  • Experience in curriculum leadership or pastoral/subject coordination
  • Excellent subject knowledge across Biology, Chemistry, or Physics
  • Strong communication, planning, and team leadership skills
  • A commitment to inclusive practice and student-centred learning
  • Desire to grow within a supportive and ambitious school environment
