As part of the Trust's commitment to the Faster Diagnosis Standard (FDS) within the Urgent Suspected Cancer Pathway, RMH established a Nurse-Consultant led Urology Diagnostic Service (QUIC) in 2019. This service receives direct referrals from both primary care (on the Suspected cancer pathway) and internal referrals (Consultant to consultant upgrades) for suspected urological cancers.Main duties of the jobThe Trust is recruiting a 12 month fixed term post for a GP for five sessions a week (each session is 4 hours) working alongside the Nurse-Consultant Lead. The role will suit a GP with a keen interest in gaining further experience in the field of Urology diagnostics and Active Surveillance. The objectives for this role are therefor to:o Ensure patients under Active Surveillance for Low-Intermediate risk prostate cancer undergo regular robust monitoring (blood markers, MRI, DRE, Repeat biopsy) to detect disease progression at the earliest opportunity and initiate treatmento Enable and empower patients to self-manage urological symptoms through education/video content.o Work with local GP's to further improve the diagnostic and active surveillance pathways, and GP feedback mechanisms.o Work with local GPs to ensure the robust management of benign urological diagnosis and where appropriate, establish models of referral to Trusts offering Specialist benign disease management.o Work with the RMP primary care education programme and borough-based cancer leads to support local education regarding Diagnostic Urology.About usThe Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is a world-leading cancer centre.   • Demonstrate understanding of current health environment and impact of current government/regional policy developments
  • Ability to lead within multiprofessional working within an organisation and across organisational boundaries
  • Demonstrate leading innovative practice development and evidence of significant achievements gained
  • Previous experience of formal presentations to multi professional group
