The post holder will be working with a team of Consultants, Specialist Trainees, Clinical Fellows, Core Trainees and Foundation Year Trainees. Each post has a generic clinical component in Acute/General Medicine and the duties will be on the ED/MAU as described in the information pack. In addition the post holder will have an agreed experience in the specialty of their choice including outpatient clinics, ward cover, specialist in-patient reviews and procedures, audit and research. The precise role within each team and the proportion of clinical time spent between the two components would depend on previous experience and qualifications of the candidate and the specialty chosenMain duties of the job
  • Peri-operative management of cardiothoracic and cardiology patients at New Cross Hospital (NXH), with immediate consultant supervision initially.
  • Resident on call for the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CICU), Cardiothoracic and Cardiology emergencies.
  • Provide advanced resuscitation and intra-/inter-hospital transfer skills for the Trust hospital.
  • Participate in a resident overnight shift rota (1 in 8) principally covering the CICU at New Cross Hospital.
  • Active participation in the Directorate's Teaching, Audit and Governance programmes.
  • Keep up to date with Trust mandatory training requirements.
  • Undergo regular appraisal. There will be an assigned Educational Supervisor.
