- Understanding of electrical plant items operation and controls and associated systems such as power transformers, reactors, STATCOM, AIS/GIS switchgear, HVDC and HVAC interconnectors, HV Protection & Control.
- Experience managing design teams developing transmission or distribution power projects across the pre-construction project lifecycle, feasibility to detailed design.
- Experience of the development of HV/EHV substation projects including preparation of drawings such as substation overall site layouts including but not limited to design of AIS/GIS switchyard/building, protection and control room/building, MV room, transformers and reactive compensation equipment.
- Minimum 7 years of experience working on HV power projects or large construction projects.
- Experience working with major utilities or developers.
- Experience as a designer or as a project engineer.
- Experience in managing project budgets.
- Ability to work flexibly across multiple projects.
- Fluency in English.
- Experience of working on multi-discipline engineering projects
- Experience of the optioneering exercise to select the best substation configuration (voltage levels, installed and firm capacities) as per functional requirements of project.
- Experience of HV/EHV GIS and AIS switchgear design
- Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Chartered accreditation or working toward status
- NEC accredited project manager
- Consultancy experience
- Mentoring junior staff
- Experience of preparing bid proposals
