As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside class teachers to support children with a range of special educational needs, both inside and outside the classroom. Your role will be pivotal in helping students engage with the curriculum, build confidence, and reach their full potential in an inclusive learning environment. You will provide tailored support to children with individual needs, ensuring they feel valued and supported in their learning.Key Responsibilities:
- Support children with a variety of SEN needs, including learning, communication, and emotional challenges.
- Work closely with the class teacher to implement tailored strategies to meet individual learning plans (IEPs).
- Assist in the preparation and adaptation of lesson materials to cater to students needs.
- Provide one-on-one support for students with personal care or behavioural needs when necessary.
- Help children develop social and emotional skills, encouraging positive behaviour and confidence.
- Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers, parents, and other professionals involved.
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and welcoming classroom environment for all students.
- Assist with the delivery of group interventions and learning activities.
- Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), either in a classroom or support role.
- A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting children with diverse needs.
- Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.
- A passion for helping children succeed in their learning and personal development.
- Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or SEN-related training, are desirable but not essential.
- A DBS check or willingness to undergo one (Prospero Teaching can assist with this).
