Job Description:Robert Half Finance & Accounting is recruiting for a Financial Accountant to join one of our most reputable clients with a Head Office based on the outskirts of Wakefield.This is a fantastic opportunity for a part-qualified accountant looking to take the next step in their career. Whether you're moving from practice or already in industry, this role offers variety, responsibility, and a clear path for progression within a supportive and forward-thinking finance team.The Role:As Financial Accountant, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting strategic planning, and driving continuous improvement across the finance function. You'll gain exposure to a wide range of accounting responsibilities and work closely with stakeholders across the business.Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly management accounts.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls.
  • Assist with year-end accounts and liaise with external auditors.
  • Complete quarterly VAT returns and statutory filings.
  • Administer the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), including subcontractor verification and monthly returns.
  • Contribute to finance process improvements and cross-functional collaboration.
About You:
  • Part-qualified (ACCA/CIMA)
  • Strong technical knowledge and a proactive, analytical mindset.
  • Experience or interest in CIS (training provided if needed).
  • Proficient in Excel and familiar with accounting software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
Desirable:
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Sage 200, SAP, Oracle).
  • Knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP.
