- Be responsible for fibro scanning patients referred by members of the multi-disciplinary team
- Provide fibro scans adopting standard protocols and in line with Trust policies and operational guidelines.
- Ensure that equipment is prepared adequately prior to the procedure and to carry out fibro scans in a safe environment, responsible for assisting with the maintenance of the Fibroscan machine including calibration as per manufacturers safety guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with patients and family members, ensuring the procedure is explained fully, any questions are answered, and verbal consent is obtained.
- Explanation of result to patients is not expected of this role.

- Ability to prioritise tasks.
- Ability to communicate health related information in an understandable way to patients and colleagues, adapting communication style to meet the needs of the recipient.
- Ability to communicate messages and instructions accurately to colleagues, both verbally and in writing.
- Basic skills of empathy and reassurance.
- Basic keyboard skills.
- Ability to use email system, CV5 and access peritoneal dialysis documentation to, document clearly, using plain English.
- Understanding of health and safety requirements in a patient environment.
- Maths and English at level 1 or above (GCSE A G or equivalent).
- Level 2 Health and Social Care NVQ or committed to completing a Level 2 Healthcare Support Worker qualification on commencement to post.
- Level 3 Health and Social Care NVQ.
- Minimum of 6 months in a Healthcare setting .
- Experience of working as a fibro-scan technician.
- Able to have full hand/arm movement to effectively use the fibro scan machine.
