Job Description:Due to expansion into a new exciting product range [home-compostable molded fiber lids] we are looking to recruit a number of Mechanical Operators who are not just operators but also technically skilled
problem-solvers, individuals with a foundational grasp of technical and mechanical concepts—those who may not yet hold formal qualifications in maintenance but possess a natural technical flair and curiosity.Our aim is to discover and nurture this potential, offering comprehensive training and development on some of the most advanced machinery in this new industry. If you have a knack for understanding how things work and are eager to elevate those skills, we're interested in fostering your growth into a specialist role within our dynamic manufacturing environment.As a Mechanical Operator you will be directly involved in the hands-on processes that contribute to the creation of industry-leading products and technology. This will involve:
  • Operational Excellence: Operating cutting-edge machinery with precision and care, playing a pivotal role in our production process through efficiently carry out day-to-day operational tasks as per standard operating procedures, ensuring seamless production flow.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhering to all workplace safety guidelines and protocols, actively contributing to a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Quality Assurance: Consistently monitoring the quality of products during the manufacturing process, ensuring they meet the high standards our customers expect.
  • Maintenance of Hygiene Standards: Maintaining impeccable hygiene standards in all activities, understanding the critical importance of cleanliness in sustainable production.
  • Effective Teamwork: Collaborating with other team members and the Cell Coordinator to ensure a harmonious and productive work environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Utilizing and maintaining equipment and machinery responsibly, reporting any malfunctions or concerns to the Cell Coordinator promptly. Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance. Regular maintenance and proactive upgrades of our equipment, contributing to our drive for efficiency and sustainability.
  • Feedback and Continuous Improvement: Actively participating in team meetings and training sessions, providing constructive feedback and suggestions for process improvements.
  • Adaptability: Be flexible and adaptable to change, whether in response to different production demands or evolving best practices in sustainable manufacturing.
The PersonThe successful candidate should:
  • Be educated to GCSE Level
  • Be IT literate
  • Have the ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Be able to demonstrate a basic technical and mechanical aptitude
  • Have a strong commitment to safety and quality standards; and
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Whilst it is not essential, it would be advantageous to your application if you were able to demonstrate:
  • Have previous experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience within the food industry
  • Previous experience of food safety standards
  • Technical experience or technical qualifications.
Other Features:
  • Permanent Position
  • 12 hour continental shifts ( 0700-1900 / 1900-0700)
  • Average of 42 hours per week
  • 22 days (12 hour) holidays per year
