- The Public Affairs and Policy Manager will play a crucial role in helping to determine and shape the Organisation's policy goals and how best to achieve them
- Develop and implement effective public affairs strategies
- Lead on policy formulation and advocacy
- Engage with stakeholders and influence public policy
- Keep abreast of the political landscape and its impact on the business services sector
- Produce clear, concise and authoritative policy materials based on evidence, including reports, policy positions, briefings and responses to Government consultations.
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure alignment of public affairs activities
- Manage relationships with external agencies and partners
- Conduct and or commission qualitative and quantitative research utilising community contacts, government statistics and other data sources
- Lead policy team and colleagues to develop and implement high profile campaigns on key issues affecting the Organisation's members
- An academic background in Public Policy, Politics or a related field
- Proven experience of analysing, developing and influencing policy at the national and local level and formulating policy recommendations
- Demonstrable experience in a public affairs and policy role
- Experience of running and managing research projects, using a variety of mixed -methods, confident in analysing complex datasets.
- Excellent knowledge of the UK political system and business services sector
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
- The ability to think strategically and work collaboratively
- Experience of campaigning work at a national level and/or local level, including experience of working directly with MPs or Peers and/or with local government and Councillors, and of using a range of campaigning methods
