Reports to: Catering Manager / Service LeadAbout the Role:You’ll be stepping into healthcare kitchens where your culinary skills have a direct impact on patient wellbeing and recovery. As a Temporary Chef, you’ll deliver high-quality meals while respecting clinical dietary requirements and infection control policies—ensuring patients, staff, and visitors are well-nourished and cared for.Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare meals to meet a variety of dietary needs: soft diets, diabetic-friendly, halal, low salt/fat, vegetarian, allergen-free, etc.
- Adhere to NHS/clinical facility food safety protocols, including temperature logging, COSHH, and HACCP standards.
- Maintain immaculate kitchen hygiene aligned with infection prevention measures.
- Communicate with ward staff or nutrition leads to tailor menus to specific patient needs.
- Manage stock levels, rotate supplies, and ensure minimal waste.
- Adjust quickly to different settings while maintaining consistency and professionalism.
- Support any themed days, events, or special dietary requests.
- Proven experience as a chef in hospitals, private healthcare, or clinical catering services.
- Thorough understanding of dietary management in clinical settings.
- Minimum Food Hygiene Level 2 (Level 3 preferred).
- Allergen Awareness and knowledge of special diets.
- Excellent adaptability, communication, and kitchen organisation skills.
- Commitment to dignity in care and safeguarding principles.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Reliable transport or ability to travel to client sites.
