We're looking for a hands-on, driven Engineering Shift Team Leader to guide and develop our engineering team at our clean, modern, and technically advanced site in Thetford. This site produces coated food products for major UK supermarkets and is part of a wider, sustainable food group operation.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled engineer with leadership experience who is ready to step up, take ownership, and drive performance on shift.What you'll be doing:
- Leading a team of 4 engineers, providing day-to-day guidance and support during shifts
- Responding to machinery breakdowns and carrying out planned maintenance activities
- Acting as first point of escalation for technical and operational issues
- Ensuring all work is completed and logged accurately using our Shire CMMS system
- Delivering clear and structured shift handovers and reports to support team continuity
- Monitoring engineering performance and identifying continuous improvement opportunities
- Communicating closely with the operations team to minimise downtime and maximise productivity
- Managing spare parts usage and replenishment
- Approved engineering apprenticeship and NVQ Level 3 in Engineering (Electrical preferred)
- Hands-on fault-finding skills with strong mechanical and electrical knowledge
- Experience in a high-speed FMCG or food manufacturing environment
- Previous experience in a team leader, supervisor, or senior engineering role
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Working knowledge of CMMS systems (Shire ideal) and proficiency with Excel & Word
- IOSH or strong awareness of health & safety standards (desirable)
