Our Process Control Engineers are responsible for developing on-line control and optimisation schemes, to control operation of the process units, to maintain product quality and to maximise profitability. The successful candidate will work as part of a larger team of Process Control and Optimisation engineers, within the Technical Services Department (TSD).What you will doYour key responsibilities will include:
  • Working with a range of process control technologies to deliver high quality regulatory control, multi-variable constraint optimisation and enhanced operating tools.
  • Work closely with Process Technical teams to provide on-line control and optimisation solutions consistent with unit economics, production targets and operating limits. This will include development and maintenance of control schemes to meet the changing economic drives and equipment capabilities.
  • Provide support and training to the Operations Teams to ensure good understanding of the control objectives and online control schemes.
  • Development of improved operator tools to aid safe and effective operation of the process units.
  • Interface with supply organisation on process economics and identification/development of new optimisation opportunities
About youWe are looking for either practicing Process Control Engineers or established Process Engineers looking to begin specialising in Process Control and Online Optimisation. The successful candidate will be looking to join a world class petrochemical multi-national and will possess a broad range of technical, personal effectiveness and leadership skills. We will look to mentor and train you in your role in order to progress to the level of Senior Process Control Engineer, that could ultimately lead to working within regional or global positionsPreferred Qualifications/ ExperienceTo be eligible for this role, you should:
  • Hold a degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent (2.1 or above)
  • Have demonstrated strong Process Engineering skills with an interest in specialising in Process Control
  • Have professional experience, ideally within an operating company or a major engineering contractor (petroleum/petrochemical industry experience preferred) with either of the following:
  • At least 2 years’ in Process Control Engineering
  • A well-established Process Engineering background
Be able to demonstrate:Candidates should have the following attributes:
  • Good Process Engineering background with the ability to apply chemical engineering knowledge to problem solving and troubleshooting
  • In-depth knowledge of hydrocarbon processing in a refining and / or petrochemical operating environment with a practical understanding of plant equipment and instrumentation
  • The ability to work in a diverse, cross-functional team environment
For practicing Process Control Engineers:
  • Hands-on experience with one or more major Distributed Control System (DCS) technologies, e.g. Honeywell TDC3000
  • Deployment of base process control strategies
The following attributes are beneficial:
  • Relevant experience developing and modifying Advanced Process Control technologies including: Dynamic Matrix Control (DMC), Real-Time Optimization (RTO), Inferential modelling techniques and Operator Guidance (e.g. Alarm Management and sequential control)
  • Steady State or Dynamic Simulation experience in an industrial environment
