.Job Title: Database Administrator (DBA)Location: Primarily Remote (Occasional Office Visits Required - Cannock, United Kingdom)Reporting To: Software Development ManagerJob OverviewWe are seeking a skilled and proactive Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in PostgreSQL and AWS to join our development team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimisation of our database systems, ensuring high performance, availability, and security.Key Responsibilities· Design, implement, and maintain PostgreSQL databases to support business applications.· Manage and monitor database infrastructure hosted on AWS, ensuring scalability and reliability.· Optimise database performance through indexing, query tuning, and resource management.· Collaborate with development teams to design efficient database schemas and data models.· Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.· Ensure database security and compliance with data protection regulations.· Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.· Document database configurations, procedures, and best practices.Required Skills & Experience· Proven experience as a DBA with a strong focus on PostgreSQL.· Hands-on experience managing databases in AWS RDS.· Proficiency in database performance tuning and optimisation techniques.· Solid understanding of database design principles and data modelling.· Experience with monitoring tools and automation for database management.· Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) is a plus.· Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.· Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.Work EnvironmentThis role is primarily remote, with occasional travel to the office for team meetings or project collaboration.
