Propose sessions for the BFI Woman with a Movie Camera summit 2026

Salary: £250-£500 dependant on scopeThis is a paid opportunity to programme a panel, workshop or presentation on a specific topic relevant to women today.Previous summit discussions have ranged from the role of the intimacy coordinator on set to the impact of Beyoncé on moving image culture, and we welcome a diverse range of perspectives and interests.Suggested topics we would love to platform at the summit include:
  • stories around women's contribution to cinema throughout history, including filmmakers, curators, critics, etc
  • profiles of female-led companies and organisations, or of fascinating women in film and television whose work feels of contemporary relevance
  • issues and challenges facing women in the film industry today, in production, exhibition, distribution and related media
  • discussions around contemporary cinema trends, and threads linking the work of women filmmakers working today
  • spotlights on under-appreciated areas of filmmaking and film culture, platforming the work of inspiring women
  • exploration of online trends and wider cultural movements related to cinema
Between £250 and £500 is available for the successful proposal, depending on the scale of the project and whether the proposal is made by an individual or a group.We strongly welcome and encourage applicants from our under-represented groups; who identify as D/deaf and disabled and / or are Black and Global Majority. In line with the focus of the summit, we also strongly encourage submissions from women and non-binary people.How to applyPlease fill out a simple form (found on ) detailing the proposal idea and any relevant experience. We do not require extensive details at point of submission, as these will be developed with the BFI programming team. The form should not take longer than 10 to 15 minutes to fill out, and we welcome multiple submissions.About the summitThe BFI Woman with a Movie Camera summit will return on 24 January 2026, inviting anyone passionate about cinema and moving image culture to participate in discussions about women in the industry.An annual event, the summit programme is formed by over 20 talks, panels and playful events exploring film and television, and is focused on lending female and non-binary voices a chance to speak about the issues facing them in today's workplace and culture.#LI-DNIThe closing date for this position is 22/09/2025 at 23:00
