If you're looking for a new opportunity in a challenging but rewarding aspect of healthcare then this may be the opportunity for you...The James Paget University Hospital Pharmacy department is looking for a Senior Pharmacy Assistant - static in Dispensary or Stores to join our team. No previous experience in hospital Pharmacy is required as full training will be provided. This vacancy is open to people already holding an NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services.You will assist Pharmacist's and Pharmacy technicians in many aspects of the Pharmacy service helping to ensure the highest quality of pharmaceutical care is given to our patients.Main duties of the jobDuties may include: Dispensary
  • To produce labels for dispensed drugs using the JAC computer system for inpatient, outpatient, community unit, TTOs, and CDs against the relevant previously clinically checked prescription or request.
  • To dispense medication for inpatient, outpatient, community unit, TTOs and CDs against the previously clinically checked prescription or request in line with departmental policies and procedures and the Medicines Act 1968 using the JAC system.
Duties may include: Stores
  • To assist the Senior Pharmacy Technician with the day-to-day distribution of medicines from Main Pharmacy Stores including:
  • Coordination and distribution of community unit requisitions.
  • Ensuring all allocated top-ups and ward visits are completed in a timely manner and per schedule.
  • To participate in the ward top-up scheme for the ordering, assembly, checking, delivery and stock rotation of drug supplies to wards and departments.
  • To ensure the optimum use of the Automated Dispensing System and report any issues with its function when necessary.
