Closing Date: Friday 29th August 2025The day to dayCarry out microbiological testing including plate counting, identification and confirmation, following documented methods without deviation.Ensure all tests are completed within agreed timeframes, keeping the management team informed of any delays or issues.Enter and approve test results accurately and promptly, meeting client and method deadlines.Maintain a clean, organised laboratory environment and ensure correct waste disposal procedures are followed.Monitor and report on laboratory stock levels, requesting replenishment as needed.Deliver training on microbiological procedures and theoretical principles in line with standard methodologies.Adhere strictly to all health & safety and quality management procedures, including use of PPE and incident reporting.Promote a positive safety culture and assist in resolving any unsafe practices.The EssentialsMinimum 5 GCSEs (grades 9–4 or A*–C) or equivalent, including Science, English and Mathematics.Sound theoretical and practical knowledge of microbiology, with experience across a range of methods and procedures.Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.Able to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines under pressure.Familiar with Microsoft Office applications and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).Committed to producing high-quality data in compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 17025:2017 standards.A proactive team player with a strong sense of responsibility for safety, accuracy and cleanliness in the lab environment.Our benefits include:Annual Leave commencing at 20 daysAbility to Buy annual leave.Enhanced Company Sick Pay SchemeSalary Progression Scheme based on technical and behavioural competencies.‘Celebrating Success’ Recognition AwardsPerkbox membership providing access to discount vouchers and wellness hub.Learning/study supportGroup Personal Pension Plan * Car Parking on-siteWorking at ALSThe ALS team is a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.Our values are important to us, and shape how we work, how we treat each other and how we recognise excellence.At ALS, you’ll be supported to develop new skills and reach your full potential.
