Job role: Head of ScienceLocation: Southend-on-SeaSalary: MPS/UPS + TLRJob Type: Permanent role starting in January 2026The School and RoleWe are working with an all-through independent school in Southend-on-Sea who are seeking a motivated Head of Science. Based in a remote area of Essex, this independent school offers fantastic state of the art facilities for staff and students. The school is looking for a dynamic Head of Science to join an established department of 5 teachers, who can lead, support and mentor other members of staff.As a Head of Science, you will be responsible for managing and developing the Science curriculum, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning, and promoting a culture of high expectation and continuous professional development.This is a permanent Head of Science position, starting in January 2026. Applicants must have valid UK QTS and at least 3 years teaching experience is desirable.RequirementsThe desired Head of Science will be able to;
  • Lead, manage, and support the Science department, ensuring the highest quality of teaching and learning.
  • Develop, review, and improve the Science curriculum to ensure it meets the needs of students and aligns with school goals.
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff, and support the pastoral needs of students.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring targets are met and all students are supported to achieve their full potential.
