Description:The RoleNHS Lanarkshire Cancer Nursing Service are seeking applications for highly motivated, enthusiastic and dynamic registered nurses to join their Upper GI Cancer Nurse Specialist Team. Experienced registered nurses who are committed to providing quality evidence based cancer care with a personal commitment to life long learning aligned to the NES NMAHP framework and ACCEND, are welcomed to apply.The role of the Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist is highly specialised, these positions provide cancer service across NHS Lanarkshire which comprises of three district general hospitals providing comprehensive person centered cancer care. Coordination of the complex care needs of people with upper gastrointestinal cancer across all stages of the patients pathway from diagnosis through treatment and follow up or end of life care, are key components of the posts.   • Registered Nurse or AHP with valid NMC / HCPC Registration.
  • Educated to Degree Level.
  • Post graduate qualification at a minimum of Level 10 (Hons) or working towards.
  • Expertise within speciality of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality of practice.
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality of practice.
  • Leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service delivery.
  • Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification.
  • The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative.
  • Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective time management skills.

  • Advanced Communication Skills / Training.
  • Communication or Counselling Skills qualification / course.
  • Commitment to lifelong learning and personal development plan.
  • Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification (V300)
  • Advanced Clinical Assessment & Decision Making Qualification.
  • Accredited SACT course / module
  • Significant comprehensive post registration experience within relevant speciality
  • Experience of nurse led clinics
  • Experience of case management / case load holder.
  • Experience of working with MDT
  • Experience as a CNS
  • Experience of undertaking audit and research
  • Experience of prioritising work and managing competing demands
  • Be able to demonstrate knowledge of national, regional and local cancer strategies / priorities
  • Experience of multi-professional teaching.

Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment.
